was taking ivermectin for&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fiercepharma.com\/marketing\/pfizers-latest-dear-scientist-video-stars-long-covid-patient-looking-answers\">long COVID<\/a>&nbsp;\u2014 or for confirm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cuomo admitted, \u201cWe were given bad information about ivermectin,\u201d and asked, \u201cThe real question is, why?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While Cuomo fell short of taking responsibility for his role in quashing the drug and shaming vaccine refusers, his reversal on ivermectin sparked a new round of debate about the broad conspiracy to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/defender\/how-governments-suppressed-effective-covid-treatments\/\">suppress effective and inexpensive therapeutics<\/a>&nbsp;during the healthcare facilities and other organizations received a total of $9.2 billion from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services\u2019 Provider Relief Fund to \u201cpush the jabs on everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/members-only\/?itm_term=take-action\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft prescriptions\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In their article, the Thorps quoted Dr. Pierre Kory\u2019s book, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/War-Ivermectin-Medicine-Millions-Pandemic\/dp\/151077386X\/\">The War on Ivermectin<\/a>: The Medicine that Saved Millions and Could Have Ended the Pandemic,\u201d describing the suppression of therapeutics occurring at the height of the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn the wake of the global&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/defender\/joe-rogan-sanjay-gupta-cnn-lied-ivermectin\/\">horse-dewormer<\/a>&nbsp;propaganda campaign, hospitals started pulling ivermectin from their pharmacies,\u201d Kory wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kory, a pulmonologist and co-founder and president emeritus of the<a href=\"https:\/\/covid19criticalcare.com\/about-the-flccc\/\">&nbsp;Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance<\/a>, described hospital health systems threatening to fire employees if they prescribed the drug and pharmacies becoming \u201ceven more brazen in their refusal to fill ivermectin prescriptions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of these same pharmacies claim they are still prohibited from filling ivermectin prescriptions as a COVID-19 treatment, according to the Thorps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Kory, the results of over&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/defender\/chris-cuomo-ivermectin-covid-vaccine-injury-reduced-icu-patients\/#:~:text=103%20controlled%20trials\">100 trials<\/a>&nbsp;show that ivermectin could have effectively treated the virus and saved countless lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paying pharmacies not to fill ivermectin prescriptions was only one element of a multi-prong strategy that included threats against doctors, ranging from shaming to loss of hospital access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Thorps cited the case of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/defender\/mary-talley-bowden-hospital-suspended-covid\/\">Dr. Mary Talley Bowden<\/a>, who had her hospital privileges suspended for speaking out about her success treating patients with ivermectin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite the suppression of ivermectin, credible sources reported U.S. Congress members in 2021 were taking the drug for href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/icatt\/AboutICATT.html\">&nbsp;(CDC) program called ICATT<\/a>, or \u201cIncreasing Community Access to Testing for COVID-19,\u201d that funded more than 19,000 testing sites targeting the uninsured and underinsured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Walgreens, another recipient of provider relief funds, in 2022 ran a \u201cpublic relations propaganda piece\u201d featuring a trusted \u201cWalgreens healthcare supervisor\u201d expressing his \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.walgreensbootsalliance.com\/news-media\/our-stories\/tiny-arms-big-relief-finally-covid-19-vaccine-mattie-grace\">big relief<\/a>\u201d at finally being able to give his 3-year-old daughter a COVID-19 shot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Thorps also cited examples of these pharmacies running&nbsp;<a People would whisper in the corridors about fake lab studies. They would wonder aloud about the safety of our food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>IBT was the country\u2019s largest testing lab for&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/defender_category\/toxic-exposures\/\">drugs and pesticides<\/a>, conducting toxicology studies for companies such as&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/defender\/monsanto-glyphosate-roundup-poison-playbook-rtk\/\">Monsanto<\/a>&nbsp;until investigators discovered widespread fraudulent manipulation of test data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The U.S. Department of Justice successfully prosecuted multiple IBT officials for fraud and has caught others who similarly engaged in fraud to ensure approvals for risky products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I learned the IBT story from Adrian Gross, a colleague in the EPA Office of Pesticide Programs. (Gross died in 1992.) We spent hours talking about the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/defender\/pete-myers-corruption-science-regulation-toxic-herbicides\/\">science and political corruption<\/a>&nbsp;that often accompany the regulation of pesticides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gross would speak of \u201ccut-and-paste\u201d science, in which studies the EPA relied on included passages simply copied from materials developed by the companies seeking approval to sell their risky products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the time I worked at the EPA, I became convinced that the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/defender_category\/agency-capture\/\">agency was serving the industry<\/a>&nbsp;much more than the public. I discuss that madness in the 2014 book I wrote on the EPA, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Poison-Spring-Secret-History-Pollution\/dp\/1608199142\">Poison Spring: The Secret History of Pollution and the EPA<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/defender\/uterine-cancer-pesticide-exposure\/\">Cancer from pesticides<\/a>&nbsp;has been the greatest nemesis of industrialized farmers. In August 1980, researchers from the University of Iowa School of Medicine and the Medical University of South Carolina reported to the EPA that they had observed in a study of Iowa farmers \u201ca greater frequency among white male farmers\u201d of cancers of the stomach, prostate, bone and connective tissue, leukemia, lymph tissue and multiple myeloma (bone marrow).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Iowa farmers compared to non-farmers came down with stomach cancer at a rate of 75% more; prostate at 76% more; bone and connective tissue at 77% more; leukemia at 42% more; lymph tissue at 42% more and multiple myeloma at a rate of 108% more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In general, Iowa farmers, and by extension, all farmers using pesticides are dying from cancer at twice the rate affecting the rest of the population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These deadly trends continue. In its&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/shri.public-health.uiowa.edu\/cancer-data\/reports\/iowa-cancer-reports\/\">Iowa Report, 2024<\/a>, the Iowa Cancer Registry says that the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/defender\/alcohol-big-ag-iowa-cancer-crisis\/\">cancer rate in Iowa<\/a>&nbsp;is the \u201csecond highest and fastest rising\u201d in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The more bushels of corn and soybeans the farmers of Iowa produce, the more cancer they harvest. The more bushels of corn and wheat and soybeans and fruit the farmers of America harvest, the faster they go to their graves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That is all a secret between them and the professors at the land grant universities, who know about this national and international tragedy but keep tight lips and say nothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Add animal farms to the growing of crops addicted to pesticides and you have a toxic kingdom ruling the countryside of America. There are thousands of animal farms feeding and slaughtering about 9 billion hogs, cattle, chicken and other animals per year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These animal factories are unregulated. They enclose animals like sardines in a can. They are houses of filth, violence, national pollution and disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The unfathomable amount of manure and pollution of animal farms gives rise to viruses that can explode into pandemics. Indeed, in a new book, I am arguing that the potential origins of the 2020-2022 pandemic may be in the factories of animals all over America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Paying a price<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I paid a price for serving the public good. Senior officials often made my life miserable. They told me I was not a team player. They were right. I did not hide the truth, that is, the scientific evidence that spraying our crops with neurotoxins and carcinogens was dangerous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It should never happen. But senior officials tried to fire me because I published an article in the Chicago Tribune on Oct. 10, 1989, in which I criticized the fossil fuel industry for causing global warming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s been 10 years since my book came out, and from all appearances, little has changed inside the EPA. We need an EPA to work for us. But to reach that milestone, Americans must create change by valuing their health and asking where the food they eat comes from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My advice is to eat only the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/defender\/buy-fresh-organic-food\/\">organic food<\/a>&nbsp;of small family farmers or grow your own fruits and vegetables. Take the political steps to fight the planetary life and death threat from anthropogenic climate chaos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t elect politicians funded by the industry who support pesticides or say climate change is a hoax. Decide to support organic farming. published today in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/jamanetwork.com\/journals\/jamanetworkopen\/fullarticle\/2818858\">JAMA Network Open<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the first U.S.-based cohort study to examine this link, researchers from the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California (USC), the University of Florida and Indiana University followed 229 mother-child pairs from pregnancy until the children were 3 years old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They found that a 0.68 milligram per liter (mg\/L) increase in fluoride exposure during pregnancy was associated with nearly double the chance of a child, by age 3, exhibiting neurobehavioral problems at or near a level that meets the criteria for a clinical diagnosis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/keck.usc.edu\/faculty-search\/howard-hu\/\">Dr. Howard Hu<\/a>, Flora L. Thornton Chair and Professor of Population and Public Health Sciences at USC and co-author of the study told&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/defender\/\">The Defender<\/a>&nbsp;the study\u2019s findings are concerning because the women were not exposed to particularly high fluoride levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their fluoride exposure came primarily from fluoridated tap water in Los Angeles, which has water fluoridation at 0.7 mg\/L \u2014 typical for fluoridation levels in most U.S. cities and towns and approximately the same level found to have effects in the study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen you add this to all the other studies that have been done on this subject in the last few years,\u201d Hu said, \u201cit creates a body of evidence, which \u2014 in conjunction with the basic science looking at how fluoride may be toxicologically active on the brain \u2014 suggests that the impact of fluoride on neurobehavioral development problems is causal. The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.cdc.gov\/pcd\/2015\/04\/23\/community-water-fluoridation-one-of-the-10-greatest-public-health-achievements-of-the-20th-century\/\">Centers for Disease Control and Prevention<\/a>&nbsp;(CDC) defends the practices as key to public health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, a growing body of research establishing that fluoride negatively affects neurodevelopment has led scientists and the public to question water fluoridation over the last several years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"888\" height=\"841\" src=\"http:\/\/humanityandearth.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/nature-and-growth.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3548\" srcset=\"http:\/\/humanityandearth.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/nature-and-growth.jpg 888w, http:\/\/humanityandearth.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/nature-and-growth-300x284.jpg 300w, http:\/\/humanityandearth.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/nature-and-growth-768x727.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 888px) 100vw, 888px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2006, after concluding in a multiyear study that fluoride could interfere with brain function, the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/nap.nationalacademies.org\/read\/11571\/chapter\/9\">National Research Council<\/a>&nbsp;(NRC) called for more research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since then major cohort studies in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sph.umich.edu\/cehc\/element\/index.html\">Mexico<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC9837859\/\">Canada<\/a>&nbsp;have linked fluoride exposure to lower IQ scores and other neurodevelopmental issues in children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cohort studies, in which researchers collect epidemiological data during pregnancy and then from children over their lifetimes to study a variety of health outcomes tied to environmental exposures, are the gold standard of epidemiological studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last year, after years of research, peer review, and attempts by public officials at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/defender\/ntp-report-fluoride-lower-iq-children\/\">(HHS) to block publication<\/a>, the National Toxicology Program (NTP) \u2014 the interagency government program that studies environmental toxins \u2014 published a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ntp.niehs.nih.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/ntp\/about_ntp\/bsc\/2023\/fluoride\/documents_provided_bsc_wg_031523.pdf\">draft systematic review<\/a>&nbsp;of the literature on fluoride and neurotoxicity in children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NTP report found that neonatal and childhood fluoride exposure had negative cognitive and neurodevelopmental effects for children. That report concluded that&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/defender\/fluoride-trial-day-3-neurotoxin-studies\/\">fluoride had neurotoxic effects<\/a>&nbsp;for children at 1.5 mg\/L.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NTP also identified high-quality studies linking fluoride to lower IQ at lower levels and called for more research in this area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hu said the JAMA study bolsters the NTP\u2019s findings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/hazlehurst\/?itm_term=take-action\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"842\" height=\"580\" src=\"http:\/\/humanityandearth.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Our-christal-mind-or-pineal-gland.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5771\" srcset=\"http:\/\/humanityandearth.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Our-christal-mind-or-pineal-gland.jpg 842w, http:\/\/humanityandearth.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Our-christal-mind-or-pineal-gland-300x207.jpg 300w, http:\/\/humanityandearth.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Our-christal-mind-or-pineal-gland-768x529.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 842px) 100vw, 842px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/hazlehurst\/?itm_term=take-action\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/hazlehurst\/?itm_term=take-action\">Did DOJ Lawyers Commit Fraud in the Omnibus Autism Proceeding?<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/hazlehurst\/?itm_term=take-action\">LEARN MORE<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Debates over water fluoridation and the NTP\u2019s findings have focused on the level at which that exposure becomes a concern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In an ongoing landmark trial, several environmental and consumer watchdog groups are suing the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), arguing that water fluoridation at existing levels threatens human health and that water fluoridation ought to be ended or much more strictly regulated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite the recent studies and the NTP\u2019s findings, the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/defender\/landmark-fluoride-trial-final-day-us-water-fluoridation-future\/\">EPA maintained in court<\/a>&nbsp;that there is insufficient evidence that fluoride poses a neurodevelopmental risk to children to warrant changing or ending current water fluoridation policy recommendations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ada.org\/resources\/community-initiatives\/fluoride-in-water\">fluoride lobby<\/a>&nbsp;and many officials in public health agencies defend the EPA\u2019s opinion. However, the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/defender\/water-fluoridation-us-surgeon-general-stop-support-lower-iq\/\">surgeon general\u2019s office<\/a>&nbsp;notably stopped issuing public statements supporting water fluoridation after the NTP published its report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Michael Connett, the attorney representing the plaintiffs in the case against the EPA, told The Defender the JAMA study is a \u201chuge SOS signal on fluoride\u201d for the U.S.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe question in our court case was whether adding fluoridation chemicals to drinking water presents an unreasonable risk of neurodevelopmental harm,\u201d he said. \u201cThis study provides the most direct evidence to date that it does.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Connett said the JAMA study \u201cprovides further corroboration that early life exposure to fluoride can adversely affect brain development, and suggests millions of people in the U.S. are unknowingly suffering the consequences.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Risk analysis scientist Kathleen Thiessen, Ph.D., who was not involved with the study but co-authored the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/nap.nationalacademies.org\/resource\/11571\/fluoride_brief_final.pdf\">2006 NRC study on fluoride toxicity<\/a>, told The Defender the new study is \u201cextremely important,\u201d because it shows \u201cincreased likelihood of neurobehavioral problems with increased maternal fluoride exposure, for a cohort of children in the United States with relatively low maternal fluoride exposures.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It adds to the large and growing body of data on fluoride\u2019s neurotoxicity and supports arguments to limit exposure of the U.S. population to the chemical, Thiessen said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why does anybody still think water fluoridation is a good idea?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The JAMA study analyzed data from the Maternal and Developmental Risks from Environmental and Social Stressors (<a href=\"https:\/\/madres.usc.edu\/\">MADRES<\/a>) pregnancy cohort study, which consisted of predominantly low-income Latina women in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The EPA, the National Institutes of Health and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences funded the study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Between 2017 and 2020, 229 mothers took a test to measure the fluoride concentration in their urine during the third trimester of pregnancy. Maternal urinary fluoride levels are considered a good measure of fluoride exposure for both mother and baby because fluoride passes through the placental barrier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The median maternal urinary level in the study was 0.76 mg\/L.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Between 2020 and 2023, the mothers completed a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/aseba.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/preschoolcbcl.pdf\">99-question survey<\/a>, the Preschool Child Behavior Checklist, to assess their child\u2019s behavior at age 3. The test measures children\u2019s \u201cinternalizing\u201d or inwardly focused problems, like emotional reactivity and anxiety, and \u201cexternalizing\u201d or outwardly focused problems like hyperactivity and aggression. It also provides a measure of overall total behavioral problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The survey asks questions about general behaviors such as restlessness, difficulty paying attention, hyperactivity, or being clingy or accident-prone. It also asks about specific behaviors, like being overly concerned with neatness, exhibiting cruelty to animals, or chewing on things that aren\u2019t edible. It showed a statistically significant increase in internalizing problem and total problem scores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The increase in maternal urinary fluoride was also associated with higher externalizing problems scores \u2014 showing behaviors like aggression in the classroom or with other children \u2014 but the results were not statistically significant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the researchers examined the association of maternal urinary fluoride with the raw scores for different syndromes assessed by test, they found a 13.54% increase in emotional reactivity, a 19.6% increase in somatic issues, an 11.29% increase in anxiety problems and an 18.53% increase in problems on the autism spectrum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thiessen said it is important that this study was published in JAMA, which is considered a top medical journal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier work on fluoride published in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/jamanetwork.com\/journals\/jamapediatrics\/fullarticle\/2748634\">JAMA in 2019<\/a>&nbsp;found that higher levels of fluoride exposure during pregnancy led to reduced IQ in children by ages 3 and 4. That paper received much more detailed scrutiny by reviewers than is usual for JAMA papers, plus an editorial explaining why the journal chose to publish the article, she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGiven the potentially controversial nature of the new paper, it is likely that it also received extra scrutiny.
